Merging Miner NFTsLink to this section
TL;DRLink to this section
- You can combine two eligible same-level Miners you own into one higher-level Miner.
- You choose the survivor, which keeps its ID and image; the other NFT is permanently burned.
- Both Miners' unclaimed rewards stay with the survivor. Its extra power activates later, and you pay a network fee for the transaction.
What do you keep, and what do you lose?Link to this section
A merge upgrades one of your Miners by one level and permanently destroys the other. The NFT you keep is the survivor; the one burned is the donor. You choose which is which before submitting the transaction, and the donor can't be restored afterward.
The survivor keeps its token ID and image. It also receives both Miners' unclaimed rewards, including tiny unpaid fractions. The donor doesn't contribute visual traits, and the merge doesn't create a new token ID or combine the images.
| After the merge | Result |
|---|---|
| Survivor | Same ID and image, one level higher |
| Donor | Permanently burned; no longer transferable or separately claimable |
| Active mining power | Both inputs' combined old power continues earning |
| Extra mining power | Starts earning after its scheduled activation is processed |
| Unclaimed rewards | Combined on the survivor, not paid to your wallet |
Before you mergeLink to this section
You must be the current owner of both NFTs. Marketplace or operator approval isn't enough, and a contract wallet that owns the NFTs must make the call itself. Both Miners must also:
- Be different, existing NFTs at the same level, below the maximum level.
- Have no mining power still waiting to activate.
- Have completed their own merge cooldowns in completed Squeek blocks.
Time passing or Ethereum confirmations won't satisfy a merge cooldown. Reaching an activation round also isn't enough until a checkpoint has applied the change. Review Levels and mining power and confirm which image and token ID you want to keep before signing.
The owner transaction integration guide covers the exact contract checks.
Will a merge increase your rewards?Link to this section
The survivor's new-level power is greater than the two inputs' power combined, but the increase doesn't start earning immediately. Until it activates, the survivor keeps their combined old power. Its future share still depends on the total active power of all eligible Miners and on the rewards available.
A merge doesn't create SQK or pay anything to your wallet. Already-funded rewards remain available through a separate claim, including while the extra power is pending.
When can the survivor merge again?Link to this section
Below the maximum level, the merge starts a new cooldown based on the survivor's new level and the current completed Squeek-block count. The extra power must also activate before another merge. At the maximum level, the Miner can't merge again.
Transferring the survivor doesn't reset either requirement. One settlement can complete several Squeek blocks, so there may be no opportunity to act between each one.
What if the transaction fails?Link to this section
If an eligibility check, required contract read, or donor burn fails, the whole merge is undone, including changes to unclaimed rewards. A pause in work settlement alone doesn't block merging, but the required contracts still need to work. A failed transaction can still cost a network fee.
A submitted transaction isn't a completed merge. Wait for the transaction to succeed and be confirmed before treating the survivor as upgraded or the donor as gone. The developer verification procedure gives the exact receipt and state checks.
