TL;DRLink to this section

  • The Hamster Miner is the physical device; a Miner NFT is a digital asset you can own.
  • SQK is the reward token, not a count of wheel activity.
  • Work being recorded, rewards becoming available, and a claim reaching your wallet are separate steps.

Everyday termsLink to this section

Hamster Miner
The physical device that records wheel activity using a wheel-mounted magnet, sensor, and small computers. It is separate from the virtual Miner NFTs.
Squeek Miner / Miner NFT
An NFT with a level and mining power that earns SQK linked to recorded work. Its owner can direct a share of those rewards to fund SqueekFi projects. Owning one doesn't give you control over the physical device.
SQK
The token used for mining rewards. It has a lifetime supply cap and is separate from the Miner NFT and the device's work count.
SqueekFi
Squeekchain's ecosystem for hamster-powered onchain finance. Miner owners can choose to fund projects within it with a share of their SQK rewards.
Emissions
SQK issued under the mining reward rules. You can direct a share of your Miner's rewards to fund SqueekFi projects.
Mining power / weight
The power used to calculate a Miner's share of rewards when eligible and active. A larger share of the total power can mean a larger share of rewards.
Mining rewards
SQK made available under the reward rules for eligible Miners. An owner must claim available rewards to receive them in a wallet.
Claim
A transaction that moves an owner's available rewards to their wallet. It pays a network fee and doesn't create new rewards.
Unclaimed rewards
A Miner's recorded reward balance that hasn't been paid to a wallet. It stays with the NFT when ownership changes.
Activation
When new mining power starts earning. Minting and merging schedule it for a later round, and a checkpoint must process the change.
Checkpoint
A reward update that processes settled work and scheduled changes to mining power. It can make rewards available, but doesn't pay them to an owner's wallet.
Hamster proof of work
Squeekchain's record of accepted wheel-magnet passages. It doesn't prove animal identity and isn't how Ethereum reaches consensus.
Work unit
One accepted magnet passage recorded by the device. It is not an amount of SQK.
Round
A ten-minute period used to group measured work. The device saves a completed round's work total when measurement remained uninterrupted.
Squeek block
A measure of completed work. Enough settled work completes one Squeek block; this is not an Ethereum block.
Ethereum block
A block of Ethereum transactions. Later blocks add confirmations to earlier transactions.

Words used for progressLink to this section

These words describe stages, not separate totals you should add together.

Observed
Measured or estimated from device data. The source of the displayed value matters.
Accepted
Counted by the device, or accepted as a valid record by the Oracle service. The named actor tells you which meaning applies.
Verified
A record passed the Oracle's checks. This doesn't prove what physically caused a sensor reading.
Optimistic / projected
An estimate of what the result would be if pending work is recorded as expected. It is not settled work or a completed payment.
Submitted
A transaction has been sent to Ethereum. It hasn't necessarily succeeded or received enough confirmations.
Settled
Work has been recorded on Ethereum by the Core contract. Public views also wait for their required confirmations.
Funded
SQK is held by the Mining contract and recorded under its reward rules. Funding is separate from a payment to an owner's wallet.
Claimed
A claim transaction has completed. Its actual payout matters; the public view may still be waiting for confirmations.

Measurement detailsLink to this section

Accepted passage
A magnet passage that met the device's counting rules and was saved.
Pico
The microcontroller that passes raw sensor readings to the Pi. It doesn't count or save accepted work.
Pi
The Raspberry Pi that counts accepted passages, saves work, and records completed rounds.
Installation identity
The identity of a configured reporting history for the Hamster Miner. One device can maintain separate reporting histories.
Counter epoch
An identifier for one counter history. Only compare totals from the same installation and epoch.
Genesis
The configured start timestamp for the round schedule.
Active round
A closed round with positive work.
Zero-work round
A saved round closure with zero accepted passages. A missing record is not a zero-work round.
Closure
A completed round's record: its start, end, work total, and a hash identifying its saved data.
Telemetry
Signed measurement records sent from the device to the Oracle.

Services and contractsLink to this section

Oracle
The service that checks signed measurement records and decides which rounds are eligible to settle.
Reporter
The service that signs permission to settle eligible work in Core.
Relayer
The account that submits a signed settlement transaction and pays gas. It is separate from the signer.
Core
The Ethereum contract that records settled work. It doesn't mint SQK.
Mining
The contract that uses settled work to fund rewards, calculate NFT shares, and pay claims.
Indexer
A service that reads chain events and makes them easier to query. It can rebuild its views from those events.
Contract graph
The connected Core, Token, Mining, NFT, and governance contracts. A graph is identified by its network, addresses, active implementations, and configured dependencies—not just one proxy address.

Technical reading termsLink to this section

Certification frontier
The last round covered by Core's settled history, including any zero-work gaps.
Difficulty / work per block
The work needed to complete one Squeek block. It stays fixed for that set of contracts.
Carry / current work
Settled work left over after completed Squeek blocks, counting toward the next one.
Confirmation-safe
Chain data with at least 12 confirmations. Deeper Ethereum reorganizations can still change it.
Projection
A view calculated from other records. Depending on context, it can mean an installation's reporting history, an indexed chain view, or an estimate of pending progress.
Canonical
Part of the accepted history for the context. Ethereum history can change in a reorganization, so a previously seen block is not necessarily permanent.
Token atom
The smallest transferable SQK unit. One SQK contains 10^18 atoms.
Scaled credit
The Mining contract's record of unclaimed rewards, including fractions of a token atom, stored at a 2^128 scale. A claim pays whole atoms and keeps the fraction for later; the Mining reference explains the exact accounting.

Reading API unitsLink to this section

  • rpmMilli is thousandths of a revolution per minute; speedMmPerSecond is millimetres per second.
  • distanceMm is derived distance in millimetres, not a separate physical sensor measurement.
  • Large API work totals are decimal strings, not token amounts.
  • Missing or unavailable data is not zero.

For example, rpmMilli: 12500 means 12.5 RPM and distanceMm: 8780 means 8.78 metres. These illustrative conversions don't establish who turned the wheel. Rounds and Squeek blocks explains the different measures of progress.
